The Voice Is a Powerful Tool For Change

Sea Change Chorale of Portland, Maine is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group dedicated to spreading awareness of social justice issues and inspiring positive changes in Maine. We work to support our community through partnerships, musical performances, and direct social action. Our Benefit Concerts uplift the work of social justice organizations and raise money and awareness of human needs in our community. All concert proceeds go directly to our social justice partners.

Open Door Rehearsals have begun!

This summer, all rehearsals will be open to anyone interested in joining Sea Change. If you have a friend, coworker, family member, or acquaintance who is choir-curious, bring them along one Thursday! We will have a more formal open house in the fall to kick off our new season.

Drumroll please... We are beyond thrilled to announce we have raised a full $20,000 for Maine Immigrants' Rights Coalition!!

On May 30 and 31 we held our Our Hearts Be Brave Benefit Concert, with 100% of proceeds to be donated to MIRC. Donations at the door for this free concert totaled about $6,000. Sea Change Chorale contributed an additional $600, and all donations were matched by both the Portland Friends Meeting and the Gill Family Charitable Trust, turning the total donation to MIRC into an incredible $20,000! This marks a new fundraising record for our Benefit Concerts, and we couldn't be more thrilled and thankful to all the folks who contributed to make this event so meaningful and impactful.

Fun fact: Our Benefit Concerts have raised over $31,000 for our social justice partners since our founding in 2015! Just last month we raised an additional $20,000... WOW!

Our concert was such a success! Wow, what a fantastic turnout!

We are so grateful to every single audience member, donor, chorus member, and everyone who shared their time to contribute to making this event so special. We were thrilled to once more spotlight Maine Immigrants' Rights Coalition and the critical work they do in support of immigrants and families in Maine. In the words of our wonderful speaker from Khmer Maine, Marpheen Chann:

New to Sea Change Chorale? Here's a bit about what we do!

Sea Change Chorale is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to uplifting the work of social justice organizations by raising money and awareness of community needs through music. Located in Portland, Maine, we are a no-audition choir and welcome everyone.

We hold three major performances annually and all concert proceeds go directly to our social justice partners. Our Benefit Concerts have raised over $31,000 for our social justice partners since our founding in 2015! Last year was our 10 year anniversary as a Social Justice Choir!

Our social justice partnerships have included Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition, Maine Needs, Cultivating Community, The Climate Initiative, Maine Youth for Climate Justice, Greater Family Portland Promise, Portland Recovery Community Center, and many more!

Our annual spring concert is coming up in May; information to be released next week!

We did it!

Thanks to everyone who donated at our concerts, we collected a record amount in donations - a whopping $4,040!! Both the Portland Friends Meeting and an anonymous donor agreed to MATCH that amount, meaning we were able to donate $12,120 to the Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition!

We are so grateful to everyone who donated or volunteered to help make these concerts happen. We continue to be blown away by your support for us and for our community partners. Please continue to support this wonderful organizations, protect your neighbors, and take care of each other. And once again, thank you!

Excited to announce our upcoming Free Spring Concert Series with our community partner, @maineimmigrantrights! All donations are passed directly to our partner to assist in the amazing work they do!

No reservations or tickets necessary! Concerts will be held on 5/31 at Williston Immanuel Church at 4pm, and on 6/1 at First Parish United Church of Christ in Saco, also at 4pm.
